Last month, I was able to travel to Charleston, SC with one of my best college friends, Erin! We haven’t been able to see each other as much as we would’ve liked since graduation so we decided it was time for girls weekend! It was MUCH needed. We decided on Charleston because it’s a place neither of us had been before! It was definitely a fun weekend, but not long enough!!
Erin flew in from Ohio and I flew in from Minnesota, but unfortunately Erin’s connection flight was cancelled on Friday night. 🙁 I felt so bad because she was stuck in the airport until her flight on Saturday morning. While she was on her way to Charleston, I went shopping along King Street in the Historic District. The shops were so cute, but it was SO hot outside! I don’t think I’d recommend going in the middle of July.
As I was shopping, I found the most adorable lace duster kimono at Anthropologie and decided to splurge on it! It doesn’t match my white shorts in the picture, but for length it’s perfect (I’m 5’2) and would look so great on taller people, too! I really loved how light the fabric is so it’s so nice for warmer weather. I’ve linked the kimono in the caption & my earrings from Target! I love both of these items so much!
I was SO excited to finally see Erin when she got to Charleston, but I knew she must’ve been so tired! We went and grabbed some lunch at a super cute restaurant, Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls. Honestly, these lobster rolls were just as good as any I’ve had in Boston! Plus, they serve beer and wine!
After lunch and a quick walk, we decided to go to Folly Beach for the afternoon. We took an uber and it was about 40 minutes from downtown Charleston. When we got to the beach we got the very last umbrella on the side of the pier we decided to hang out on, thank goodness! It was soo hot on the beach, I could barely lay in the sun. The water was so warm and the beach was so fun, there were so many people enjoying the nice weather! I loved being able to relax and listen to music for a few hours. We grabbed some food and listened to live music at Rita’s Seaside Grille before we headed back to the Hotel to get ready for dinner.
We stayed at the Hotel on Market which was an adorable little boutique hotel right in the heart of downtown Charleston by the nightlife and popular restaurants. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to go which was so convenient and it also saved us money in the trip. We went to dinner on Saturday night at Hooked Seafood where we basically ate a ton of fried seafood but it was so yummy! Some of the bars that were recommended to us were Doar Brothers and Eleve Rooftop Restaurant & Lounge – which were both along Meeting Street, right by the hotel, and had fun drinks and a welcoming environment, so I will definitely recommend you stop in those places!
On Sunday morning, we went to brunch at a restaurant called High Cotton, which was a little spendy but the lobster omelet and cheddar grits were amazing, so it was #worthit!! Plus, we obviously had to get mimosas but we also had some Bellinis! It was so much fun and I enjoyed catching up on our lives. It was such a fun time and I’m so glad we got to spend time together! It was so sad flying back home, but it was a really great weekend.
